An article in this week’s Brentwood Press suggests that crime is on the decline in Brentwood.
Crime statistics released by the Brentwood Police Department showed a 12 percent decrease in violent crimes from 2008, and a 20 percent decrease in property crimes in 2009. Overall, the “part one” crime rate was down 15 percent in 2009 versus 2008.

Response times (how long it takes the police to respond to emergency/non-emergency calls) were up in 2009, but only by a matter of seconds. The Department considers the current average response times (under 5 mins on average) acceptable.
Workloads (calls per officer) were also down in 2009.
The report indicated that the Brentwood Police need to improve their Clearance Rates on burglaries and theft cases. Clearance Rates refer to the number of cases the department closes, either by arrest or by “exceptional means” – meaning that a perpetrator has been identified and located.
